Release Announcement of VOXELCON2025
September 29, 2025
We are pleased to announce the release of VOXELCON 2025.
In the latest version, we have achieved significant performance improvements by introducing a new algorithm to the Finite Cover Method,
along with support for GPU-based computation.
In addition, several enhancements have been made, including stabilization of the Finite Cover Method,
acceleration of topology optimization, and the ability to output result files viewable in ParaView.
Details
Acceleration of the Finite Cover Method
We have improved the performance of the Finite Cover Method-based analysis, a feature that enables analysis from STL model data. Compared to the previous version, computation time has been significantly reduced under the same processor and identical conditions.
*Intel® core™ i5-14500(P-core:6cores,E-Core:8cores, sum:20threads).
Computation time can be further reduced by utilizing GPU parallelization alongside CPU processing.
Note: Thread-parallel (using more than 2 threads) and GPU-based computation features require the parallel computing option.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like to request a trial.
Acceleration of Topology Optimization
Topology optimization has been accelerated through algorithmic improvements.
Comparison with the previous version
Both CPU-only and GPU-based computations resulted in a significant reduction in calculation time.
※CPU:Intel® Core™ i5-14500
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4070 Ti Super
Viewing results in ParaView
With the ability to export VTK format files, post-processing can now be performed using ParaView*.
For example, analysis results can be reviewed even in situations where a license cannot be obtained—such as environments
without access to the license server or when the maximum number of licensed users has been reached.
* ParaView is an open-source visualization software developed by institutions including Sandia National Laboratories in the United States.
Other Enhancements and Improvements
Support for reading compressed TIF files has been added, and improvements have been made to enhance stability in cases where convergence with the Finite Cover Method tends to be difficult. In addition, known bugs identified to date have also been addressed.
About VOXELCON
VOXELCON is an image-based structural analysis software
that can directly model CT images obtained from real objects or STL data from CAD, enabling analysis and measurement.
It has been widely used in various fields, including materials research and biomedical studies involving teeth, bones,
and other biological structures.
